interior rendering of colonial houses

Constructing the interior living room-dining room of the COLONIAL HOUSES found in MAURITIUS

To be able to do the interior, I have to isolate the roof and some part of the buildings in order to ease my task of shaping the interior of the living room. Moreover i have shaped a plane on the floor of the living room in order to be able to apply a suitable material to it.( wooden planks)

For the interior of the building i try to imitate the exact replica of the living room of an ancient colonial house. Thus in ancient colonial house there are many decorative element which are placed inside a building to enhance the interior. Therefore, I have put decorative element around each door of the inside the living room.

For the furniture such as the sofa and the carpet, I had to search for traditional furniture and fortunately i was lucky enough that these traditional furniture exists in 3D Archive. therefore i download it and try to search for appropriate material on google images and using the bitmap material function i allocate the specific material to the furniture.
Moreover to complete the sofa set, I have copy , paste the downloaded sofa and  rotate them around a wooden table to form a complete set.

To show my knowledge about the use of applying illumination to an object, i have downloaded a lamp from 3D Archive and apply a fluorescent yellow glow to it . Also since the interior of a colonial house is usually painted white i decided to place a picture on the wall which i downloaded , modify and assigned material to it.

Willingly to know how the small part of the living room will look like, i had placed a camera eye-leveled and press F10 to render the small part, According to my perception, it look exactly the same as an interior of a living room of a Mauritian colonial house.

To complete the living room com dining room I have downloaded a table,a chair and some equipments from the 3D archive and try to shaped the complete dining table by allocating specific material to the furniture and equipment downloaded. To make the equipment mo real i try to play with the reflection of the glass ripple of the water in the glass. Moreover i had to copy and rotate some chairs and placed it round the table. After i scaled and moved the whole dining table set into the living room.
After this i have added the curtains and allocate material to it to make the living room more lively.

To have a final view of how the living try to render the image. Now the time for render Have increased due to the use of many downloaded furniture making it bulky.

After placing my camera and modifying some of its lens, this is the final render of my living room. which i have save it before the computer crashes again.

Top View of the final living room  by playing with the camera

After my first render of the interior of the building, i choose to render one of the bedroom of the colonial house. The bed room is found next to the living room as shown in the above picture I have allocate the flooring of the bedroom before adding any structure.
I have applied colour on some part of the wall to make the bedroom more likely similar to that of a colonial house found in mauritus
Then i had the difficult tasks of searching for a traditional bed which look similar of that in British ruling period and I downloaded a bed and made some changes to it and scale it to look like traditional king size bed.
I have to search for material and allocate specific material and render it to know how the latter will look like

Similarly i downloaded a vase, some flower and a small table, Tries to make them look nice together.

After this allocate specific material to each petals, leaves , vase and table and render to know how it looks like.Of course this requires many trial before coming to the final results

Before adding any furniture, inside the room i Had to put some decorative element around the door to give it the traditional outlook which i want.

One by one furniture, is added to the bedroom to enhace the traditional bedroom of the colonial houses.Mostly all furniture like cupboard and tables are allocated with wood since at that time woods were greatly used as material for furniture making.

Some sofas are then downloaded and added to the bedroom to replicate the exact space usage of the building.

After completed the bedroom also i prefer to back up my file before rendering before it crash

After back up i position my camera , play with its modifier and render the image and this is what i got.
However the rendering was of poor qualities and decide to render it mental ray.

But unfortunately my computer was unable to render the picture in high definition and i have to submit the 2 already render image in low definition.

This is my first final interior rendering- LIVING ROOM OF MAURITIAN COLONIAL HOUSE

This my second final interior rendering- BEDROOM OF A MAURITIAN COLONIAL HOUSE

Computer application project 2: exterior rendering 25%

Inspiration : Inspired by the colonial houses in Mauritius.
These colonial houses are on the verge of extinction. So i try to analyse on found in Curepipe,Mauritius and  a 3d model is done using Autodesk 3d max.

Initially the plan of the colonial house was drawn on autocad and ii was then imported to 3d max

Using autodesk 3d max the model of the colonial house is beig constructed

The wall of the building is extruded. This is done by drawing on part of the facade using box of height 3000mm and then the side of box is selected and extruded

This is done for all wall present in the house and the function border- cap was usually used to closed the box

After having extruded all the wall, header and footer for window and door needs to included. This was done by drawn boxes while the endpoint snap is switched on

After having majority of the main structure of the building completed , window was designed seperaretely using isolation keyfunction and then incoorporate with the building

After this the base and the ceiling of the house were constructed by using plane.Multiples segment of planes was deleted and adjusted to finally shaped the building.

Then the roof of the building was constructed using box and pyramids With the help of editable poly so points of the rectangles were being moved in order to provide the gentle slope of the roof.Same things were done for the pyramid in order to shape the roof of the colonial house.

Next, the staircase which was the most time consuming and challenging part of the colonial house was contructed.Initially only one platform was created. To complete the staircase, the plaform was copy and moved below each other. Furthermore to create the step, specific planes from the platform is selected and extruded.

Since colonial house is built on a rise platform of approximately 0.6m , the base is selected and extrudes to provide the raised platform.

Finally this is how the colonial houses look like in its major structure.

Now, detailed architectural element of the colonial house need to constructed. Firstly the door is constructed using the framework of the window which was previously constructed.

Decorative elements surrounding the door frame was constructed

DEtailing of the window are adjusted.

Suitable Baluster was downloaded from 3d archive and it was scaled in order to fix the context.

Suitable materials was being researched and downloaded and then each material was allocated to the wall and roof of the colonial house. For the roof of the building blue coluored claytiles was used. while for the wall a grey matt colour was allocated to it.

Materials was then allocated to the door and windows .For instance a white wooden texture were allocated to the door frame while for the glass panel crystal clear glass was used.

The doors and windows were then placed in the building which has been isolated to prevent misconception

This is how the colonial house finally look with all the desired materials allocated to it.

Now the most challenging part remains. The surronding of the colonial house. For the landscape of the house , a plane was created and with the aid of soft selection, the different level and height of the landscape was created.

I decided to incooporate a lake in its landscpe to provide a good reflection effect so using soft selection, segment of planes was moved down to create the lake

Trees was added to the landscape and material was allocated to the landscape.Omnilight was included.and and environment was chosen
Camera were placed eye level views and it was being moved and played with inorder to have a suitable views.
Rendering was then done and 2 eye level views of the colonial houses need to be submitted
First view..... focusing on the detail of building's exterior and the fountain in front of the building
Second view..... focusing on the environment of the building, reflecton in the lake, trees shadows and and the sunsire background...

Now interior rendering of colonial is awaiting me!!!!!!
